Did you know?
Gobindo Bhog is a very popular aromatic premium rice grown in the parts of Bengal and is known to be a staple for all Bengalis because of its highly nutritious nature and excellent taste. The name ‘Gobind Bhog’ is filled with the honor of West Bengal meaning “Offered to the Prince of Gods-Krishna”

This short-grained rice comes in a bright white colour with a sweet delectable buttery flavour which tends to stick together when prepared. Enjoy all the traditional irresistible Bengali recipes with this amazing rice. The unique feature of Gobindo Bhog rice is its fragrant ‘natural’ aroma while cooking. It should however be noted that aged rice will have a slightly lower aroma than young rice — also some common market varieties of rice may have high levels of aroma due to added essences – our Gobind bhog rice is 100% natural
Being a natural product, there are minor variations in aroma depending on the farm and season.

A delight for centuries, Gobindobhog rice (also referred to as Govinda Bhog rice) has served the purpose of being ambrosia for Gods and a staple for the masses. In Bengal, this delight evokes nostalgic memories of grandparent’s generation and feastings. The wonder has religious importance too. Legends have it that in the 17th century, this rice was used as ‘bhog’ (offering) for the Hindu deities, hence the name.

Gobindobhog rice is non-basmati high-yielding rice from West Bengal harvested in the Kharif (monsoon) season in Nadia, Hooghly, Burdwan, and such districts. It is not affected by the monsoons and therefore less prone to pests and worms. The rice has gained immense popularity in the southern region of TN, Karnataka, and Kerala due to its flavour and aroma.
